How a source-verified answer is created

SenseDrive reads your company’s connected sources and answers technical questions from them. Every statement is linked to a source that can be opened in the source system. If the information isn’t sufficient for the question, the platform gives no substantive answer.
THE PATH TO THE ANSWER

From question to source

01

Ask

You phrase the question in natural language. You don’t need to know beforehand which system holds the answer.

02

Search

SenseDrive searches the content it has prepared from your systems, within the limits of your access permissions.

03

Combine

Information from technical documentation, inspection specifications and documented resolutions from previous tickets is combined into one answer.

04

Phrase

A language model phrases the answer from the passages it found.

05

Cite

Every statement carries its source. One click opens the original passage in the source system.

What SenseDrive checks

SenseDrive checks whether an answer is supported by the connected sources. Technical approval and maintenance of the source documents remain with the responsible teams.

Does the source point to a passage that exists?

What stays with you

Ensuring the technical accuracy of the source documents
How current the documents are and their approval status
The decision when information conflicts

What makes an answer traceable

The source is the exact reference for each individual statement, pointing to the relevant section rather than the whole document. An answer can be passed on to a colleague, to quality assurance or to a customer.

When the information isn’t sufficient

If the available sources aren’t sufficient, SenseDrive gives no substantive answer and instead states clearly that the information is missing. This shows which information is still missing from the connected sources.

When documents contradict each other

If two documents contain different information, SenseDrive points this out and shows the sources on both sides. The responsible teams decide which document applies.

How SenseDrive differs from full-text search

Full-text search returns files in which a term appears. SenseDrive answers the question and names the passages the answer is based on. This also applies when the passages are spread across several systems or sit in a PDF, an Excel spreadsheet or a scanned document.

What SenseDrive answers from

Various data systems with common data formats can be connected, including PDF, CSV and Excel, as well as images and scanned documents from which text is extracted, plus widely used databases and documentation systems such as Confluence, Jira and code repositories. Further source systems can be connected depending on the use case and available interfaces.

Questions and answers

A source reference is the citation for an individual statement in the answer. It points to the passage in the source system and opens it with one click. This keeps a SenseDrive answer traceable even when it’s passed on.

Then SenseDrive gives no substantive answer and points out that the information is missing. This shows which information is still missing from the connected sources.
