Operating room workflow optimization
SABO Mobile IT – Maquet – Holistic workflow optimization in the operating room

Project goals

The Tegris system centrally controls a range of equipment and systems that makes the work of operating room personnel easier, allowing them to concentrate fully on the patients.
The goal was to develop individual modules for Tegris that simultaneously maximize the utilization of modern operating rooms and promote a safe working environment in compliance with the high requirements for the development of medical software according to strict international standards.

Challenges

  • Integration of proprietary technical equipment in the operating room (lighting, cameras, air conditioning, etc.)

  • Ensuring system security by minimizing dependence on specific hardware

  • Integration of telephone conference systems and Telnet protocols of different manufacturers

  • Recording and streaming videos with Ultra High Definition Resolution (UHD, 4K)
SABO Mobile IT – Maquet – Holistic workflow optimization in the operating room

"We chose SABO because they are able to quickly acquire the necessary knowledge about the application area, because they have a high quality awareness and a strong attitude to achieve results without incurring administrative costs."

Solution

  • SABO Mobile IT participated in the following development phases: requirements specification, analysis, design & implementation.

  • The development was carried out according to EN IEC 62304 and DIN EN 60601-1 with  nearly 100% coverage by automated tests.

  • SABO Mobile IT is responsible for the development of entire modules - from the integration of external hardware and software and network communication to the development of an intuitive user interface.

  • The developed modules enable the control of the operating lights, the illumination of the operating room, the air conditioning, and the video conferencing system.

Results

SABO Mobile IT's module extensions for the Tegris system provide significant support for staff, allowing them to concentrate on patient care to the maximum extent possible.  The video conferencing module enables doctors to securely transmit images and videos from the operating room and to consult experts inside and outside the hospital in real time. All image and video sources can be connected to video conferences, or monitors in the operating room thus optimizing the course of the operation.
SABO Mobile IT has worked on numerous Tegris modules, from software development to the integration of external hardware and the implementation of the user interface.
