As software developers, we are facing demands from a new generation of users, who are not just sitting in front of computer monitors but are using our apps on mobile devices and increasingly also are wearing other devices. Like smart watches, headphones and in future, there may exist even other device types, like smart glasses, personal sensors, etc. This article covers our experience in one of such projects. We wrote a multiplatform dotnet MAUI application for both Android and iOS and decided to extend it to another interface – Android watches.

Anyone who has had a glance at Web 3D technologies has definitely heard about Three.js. Three.js is a tool that conveniently provides all the power of WebGL, so your 3D scene not only looks good, but is also written neatly and readable for every developer. As you know, 3D content is rendered in WebGL, while the context is provided by a canvas DOM element. WebGL context has an empirical API, while one of the most popular JS UI libraries, React, propagates a functional, declarative approach. Therefore, you may wonder, can I work with WebGL declaratively, too? Spoiler - you shouldn’t!

With the recent announcement of OpenAI's GPT-4, the entire world has been wondering about its true powers. Currently, it’s available only through the prompt-based web interface on OpenAI for paid users. While those without paid subscriptions to OpenAI still cannot access it, publicly available demos showed its powers quite well.

Ever since we’ve been using deck.gl (a versatile and reliable visualization framework for large-scale datasets based on WebGL), we wanted to challenge ourselves by attempting to provide a way to test what the map renders to the users and if the data match our expectations. Given that Cypress is pretty much the ideal tool to use for this type of end-to-end testing, we initially performed an analysis of what exists, what the limitations are (there are quite a few, unfortunately), as well as whether or not it’s looking promising (long story short: it definitely is!).
